Abstract
The Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) launched HIRA Research in May 2021. This article addressed the previous two years of experience and future consideration for the quality improvement of HIRA Research. To establish its structure, HIRA held a public contest and invited all employees to participate in proposing a name for the journal. Subsequently, an editorial board and a reviewer pool were established along with management guidelines and manuals. To ensure increased accessibility to and dissemination of articles published in HIRA Research, the journal was linked to academic databases. Furthermore, an online submission system was integrated into the homepage of the journal to facilitate the efficient management of submissions, peer review, article status, and statistics. While HIRA Research is a nascent journal with four publications and 47 articles published thus far, notably, a total of 14 papers have been cited in 29 articles, which indicates that such articles are contributing to the scientific community. To uphold the quality of the articles published in HIRA Research, the journal implemented manuscript editing, plagiarism check systems, and spelling checks. Recently, HIRA aims to newly register HIRA Research to the National Research Foundation in Korea. HIRA Research, as a specialized journal in the creation of value in the research on healthcare, needs to be devoted to stable settlement and high-quality standards in the future. HIRA Research holds the potential to make significant contributions to the development of healthcare policies and establish itself as a reputable academic journal by publishing high-quality and impactful articles in the field of healthcare. By continuing to enhance the quality of articles published and increasing the influence of the journal, HIRA Research will be well-positioned to advance the understanding and knowledge of healthcare among readers and researchers.
